Let’s get honest for a second:
Your inbox is probably overflowing with “New Year, New You” messages right now.
If you’re like most founders, you’re knee-deep in entrepreneur year-end planning – casting new visions, tweaking routines, building out big goals for a fresh start.
But deep down, you’re wondering what’s actually going to make next year different than the one you just crawled out of?
For years, I tried the vision boards. I set the resolutions. I tweaked the routines and downloaded the printable affirmations. But nothing really changed – not in a way that lasted or felt deeply aligned.
Until I made three CEO-level decisions that completely shifted how I lead my company and my life.
If you’re done checking boxes and ready to lead from overflow not obligation – this blog post is for you.

But First: Stop Leading From Default
We’ve been conditioned to treat a new year like a blank slate – a chance to push harder, aim higher, and set bigger goals.
But let’s be real…
You can’t scale what you haven’t reconciled.
You can’t fix the business until you fix the leader running it. And no spreadsheet or new planner is going to cover up misalignment at the core.
If you’re knee-deep in entrepreneur year-end planning, I want to challenge you:
Are you building from alignment or just adding momentum to the wrong direction?
Let’s go deeper than the default. These are the three CEO-level decisions that made this year the most aligned and alive I’ve ever felt in business and at home.
1. I Stopped Setting Goals. I Set Trajectory.
Early on, I bought the lie that more goals meant more success.
But if you zoomed out on my life back then, you’d see chaos – a launch here, a revenue target there, all disconnected from who I was and what I was truly being called to build.
I was mistaking movement for momentum.
That’s when I made the shift: I stopped setting goals and I started casting trajectory.
Now, every decision filters through two anchors:
- Calling alignment – Does this move me toward the work God’s actually asked me to lead in this season?
- Legacy relevance – Will this still matter in ten years or is it just noise dressed up as a win?
This shift is what birthed the Founder’s Recalibration – the exact process I use at the end of each year to get clear, get honest, and get aligned.
It’s not about hustle. It’s about conviction.
2. I Rebuilt My Leadership Identity From the Inside Out
From the outside, we looked like we were scaling – revenue up, team growing, media features, big opportunities.
But inside?
I felt like I was suffocating in a life I had built.
I was performing leadership, not embodying it. Showing up like a founder in charge but not a CEO rooted in vision.
That’s when I stopped chasing output and started rebuilding from the inside out.
I call it the EDGE Identity Reset and it changed everything:
- E – Evaluate: Where am I leading from? Fear, urgency, pressure or conviction?
D – Discern: Who do I need to become to lead this next chapter with integrity and strength? - G – Ground: What rhythms anchor me into that version of myself daily?
- E – Embody: How do I walk into the room with my team, my family – as her, now?
This isn’t mindset work. It’s identity leadership.
Because when your internal identity shifts, your team changes. Your business evolves. Your home feels it.
This is what true faith and business leadership looks like not just knowing your calling, but living it with every decision you make.
3. I Built Systems That Set Me Free
Let me be blunt:
If your business still relies on you to launch, deliver, and make every decision you haven’t scaled. You’ve just survived the last season.
The question that changed everything for me – What needs to work without me?
That one question shifted how we build:
- We created SOPs so my team could lead without every road looping back through me
- We streamlined content systems so I could focus on voice, not just volume
- We baked in rhythms of review and recalibration not just reaction
The result was a business that scaled and got more human.
And a version of me my family actually got to experience at the dinner table.
If you’re searching for how to scale without burnout this is the work.
You don’t need more tools. You don’t need more hustle.
You need systems built from identity. Leadership rooted in conviction.
A business that serves your life – not the other way around.
Ready for a Different Kind of Year?
The year won’t change just because the calendar does.
It changes because you do.
Because you decide to lead with intention not reaction.
Because you choose legacy over hustle.
So before you grab another planner or chase another shiny strategy, ask yourself:
- Am I choosing direction over distraction?
- Identity over performance?
- Systems over survival?
If you’re ready to recalibrate not just reset – I want to gift you the exact tool I walk through each year:
🎁 The Founder’s Recalibration Framework
This isn’t fluff. It’s a deep-dive, soul-aligning, game-changing process I use with myself and my high-level clients to lead from overflow.
Oh and if you’ve ever wanted to see what this all looks like behind the scenes…

We’re doing things differently this year.
Not because we have to but because we’re called to.
