I remember staring at my calendar on a Sunday night, already bracing for the chaos of the week ahead.
Calls stacked on top of calls. Content to create. Clients to serve. Meals to make. Four little ones to raise. And not one inch of white space to breathe, let alone lead.
And the craziest part? I chose that calendar. I built it. And yet, it was running me.
If you’re anything like me – faith-led, legacy-minded, building a business that actually means something then you know the pressure of holding it all. And you’ve probably wondered: “Why do I feel so behind when I’m doing so much?”
What I’ve learned is this: it’s not about doing more. It’s about focusing on the right things.
In the full YouTube episode that inspired this post, I walk you through the exact tools, rhythms, and mindset shifts that helped me reclaim my time and finally lead like the CEO I was called to be – without burning out.
You can watch that full episode here.
But if you’re more of a reader? Let’s dive in right here. Because these 5 focus strategies changed everything for me and they can for you, too.
Time Management Strategy 1 -Audit Your Time Like a CEO
I thought I was leading but really, I was just reacting.
I’d sit down at my laptop and instantly go into whack-a-mole mode: Slack pings, inbox fires, team questions, kid requests – one thing after the next.
But leadership starts with awareness. If you don’t know where your time is actually going, you’re not leading it. You’re surrendering it – to the loudest voice or the next crisis.
I did a full audit using a tool called Rize, and it hit me like a ton of bricks: I was losing 15 – 20 hours a week to reactive, low-leverage work that wasn’t growing the business – it was draining me.
That wasn’t just inefficient. That was out of alignment with my calling.
So here’s what I want you to do this week: track every hour of your work and life. Yes, even the scroll time. Even the laundry. You can’t lead what you won’t look at.
That clarity gave me authority – not just in business, but over how I show up in my life.
Time Management Strategy 2 – Define What Actually Matters
We say we have priorities. But I’ve found that what really matters should show up on your calendar.
Every week, I sit down and write out the three outcomes that must happen – the ones that move me closer to my Big Next. Not just business wins. Things like writing time, family connection, margin to think.
And then? I check the evidence.
Because I’ve said my marriage is a priority… but for a while, my husband got the leftovers – the part of me that was running on fumes.
I said I was writing a book… but my schedule said otherwise.
This is where entrepreneur time-blocking becomes a game-changer. It’s not just a strategy – it’s a truth serum.
If something matters to you, it has to live somewhere on your calendar. Otherwise it gets buried under the “urgent but unimportant” and you end the week wondering why you’re exhausted but no closer to where you actually want to be.
Time Management Strategy 3 – Create the Blocks That Drive Results
Most entrepreneurs build their business in the cracks of their day which is exactly why it starts to crack.
If you want to lead like a visionary – not just survive like an overworked operator you have to design your time like a CEO.
These blocks changed everything for me:
- Visionary CEO Block: Time to rise above the weeds. This is where strategy happens. Vision casting. Decisions that actually move the needle. (Not during school pickup or between Zooms.)
- Efficiency Block: A tight window to crush all the “checklist” stuff – emails, DMs, Voxers, Slack. Contained. Efficient. Off your mind.
- Creation Block: Your best energy for your best work – content, programs, ideas, messaging. This is where your business becomes your own.
These aren’t just productivity tools. These are focus protectors.
You don’t find time for what matters you make it, and then defend it like your mission depends on it.
Because it does.

Time Management Strategy 4 – Build Rhythms That Work for You
You’re not a robot – you’re a mission-driven leader with a unique rhythm.
That’s why one-size-fits-all systems don’t stick. And why so many founders burn out trying to follow someone else’s blueprint.
For me? I don’t take meetings on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays. Those are my CEO days for strategy, content, quiet space to think.
Tuesdays and Thursdays? That’s when I open up for calls, collaboration, team meetings.
It works because it reflects how I’m built and my team and my family know that’s when I’m at my best.
I used to feel guilty for needing so much margin. But now I see – it’s not about having more time. It’s about using it with conviction.
Time management for entrepreneurs has to be personal. Otherwise, it’s just performance.
Time Management Strategy 5 – Align Your Focus with Your Calling
We don’t just run businesses. We steward callings.
And yet, most founders set goals in January and never question them again – even when life shifts, clarity deepens, or God starts pointing us in a new direction.
This was me. Until a few years ago, when after selling out a six-figure program, I refunded every dollar – because I knew it was no longer aligned with where I was being led.
Scary? Absolutely. But necessary. Because misalignment is expensive. And nothing steals your energy faster than executing on a vision that no longer fits.
So yes, use the systems. Set the goals. Implement the entrepreneur time‑blocking.
But don’t forget to check in with the One who called you in the first place.
Final Word:
If your days are full but your soul is tired… let this be your reset.
