Episode 306: The Money Mindset Shift That Changed Everything

December 22, 2025

There was a season where I’d avoid looking at our bank account altogether.

I was undercharging, overdelivering, and stuck in a loop of low-level anxiety and waiting for the other shoe to drop. And the craziest part was on paper, things looked great, revenue was solid but in reality, it never felt like enough.

Looking back now, the problem wasn’t the numbers.

It was my relationship with money and how I let it drive everything: my decisions, my energy, my marriage, even how I showed up in my calling.

This wasn’t just a mindset tweak.
This was a full-on CEO-level rewire that laid the foundation for the kind of purpose-driven business growth I didn’t even believe was possible before. The kind that actually integrates faith, peace, and profit.

👉 If this is already hitting home, I walk through the full story in this video: Watch the full YouTube episode here. It’s one of the most personal and pivotal shifts I’ve ever shared.

When Business Becomes a Burden

There was a stretch of time when I felt like I was on-call for clients 24/7 – except without the doctor’s pay.

I was constantly launching, delivering and pivoting, doing everything I could to outrun the fear that it could all fall apart.

And even when things looked solid on paper, my soul was saying otherwise.

I was tired. My calling felt heavy.
And the business that was supposed to be a blessing had started to feel like a burden I couldn’t put down.

This is the tension I see in so many founders – maybe you’ve felt it too.

You’re chasing growth, but stuck in survival mode, white-knuckling the business. You’re over-functioning, wondering why peace and profit can’t seem to coexist.

It’s not sustainable. And it’s definitely not aligned.

Everything shifted for me when my whole life came to a halt, literally.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know about the health crisis I went through. But what I don’t always talk about is how that season completely rewired how I thought about money and leadership and what really matters.

Lying in that hospital bed, my prayers started to change.

I stopped pleading to survive and started asking God to help me see what He sees. To help me let go of what was weighing me down.

And one of the biggest things He brought to the surface was the toxic money story I’d been carrying for years. One that shaped how I worked, how I led, and how I saw myself.

If you’re in a season where the business feels more like a burden than a blessing, this is where I’d start.

I created a free assessment to help you uncover your unique Leadership Style so you can lead in alignment with how you’re designed, not just how you’ve been operating.

Take the Leadership Style Assessment here.

The 3 Money Shifts That Set Me Free

Looking back through my journals from that season, I started to see patterns – three shifts that changed how I earn, how I invest, and how I lead. They didn’t just multiply revenue, they gave me back my peace.

Money Mindset Shit 1. From “I Can’t Afford It” to “How Can I Afford It?”

This is the one that traps a lot of well-meaning entrepreneurs – myself included.

Scarcity loves to whisper that it’s too risky. That we can’t afford to dream big. That being responsible means shrinking.

But what if the real risk is staying stuck.

I started asking a better question:
“What would have to happen for this to pay for itself ten times over?”
That one question unlocked something in me.

I wish I could say the fear went away, but it didn’t – not right away. When I invested more in writing my book than we put down on our first home, it rattled me. But when I mapped out the ripple effect – in confidence, clarity, reach – I realized I was finally making decisions from vision, not fear.

I stopped itemizing every penny.
And I started leveraging the opportunity. That changed everything.

Money Mindset Shift 2. From “Money Is Scarce” to “I Can Create Money”

Part of leadership development for entrepreneurs – real leadership – is learning to lead yourself through fear.

I used to believe money had to be fought for. Scraped together. That it was limited, especially for someone like me.

But the truth is: Money flows toward value.

When I started operating in my sweet spot and I stopped selling time and started offering transformation… it all shifted.

Aligned clients aren’t buying hours.
They’re buying outcomes.
They’re buying speed.
They’re buying alignment.
And money follows that energy.

One of the things that helped me get into my sweet spot was finally understanding how I’m uniquely wired to lead.

Money Mindset Shift 3. From “I’m Not Worth It” to “I’m Responsible to Steward It”

This one ran deep.

It wasn’t just about money. It was about identity and for a long time, I didn’t even see it.

I’d undercharge. I’d overcompensate. I’d worry people wouldn’t see the value – not because it wasn’t there, but because I wasn’t fully seeing it.

But it’s not really about worthiness. It’s about stewardship.

None of this is mine.
What I’ve built – the business, the platform, the abundance – it’s all God’s.

And when I started seeing it that way, I stopped shrinking.
Because shrinking isn’t humility – it’s self-protection.

And when I stopped shrinking? Doors opened. My team leveled up. My peace returned. And my family started to experience a version of me that I had only dreamed of being.

What Happens When You Rewire Your Money Story

Today, I wake up knowing my business is a vehicle – not a master.

My marriage no longer runs on financial fear. My kids hear a new message about money, one rooted in possibility, generosity, and wisdom.

And my company is positioned for purpose-driven growth without grinding myself into the ground.

Because I let go of the beliefs that were costing me the very life I was trying to build.

And in doing so, I became a better leader – not just in business, but in every part of life that matters most.

A Question for You:

What would shift if you stopped asking, “Can I afford it?” and started asking,
“What becomes possible if I say yes to this?”

If this conversation hit home, let me know. Share it with someone who needs this reframe.

And if you’re ready to step into your next level of peace, profitability, and visionary leadership, take our leadership assessment.
