TODAY’S EPISODE IS GOING TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM OUR TYPICAL RAISING LUMINARIES, BUT POSSIBLY ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ONES WHEN IT COMES TO RAISING UP LEADERS AND BRINGING UP CHILDREN WHO ARE GOING TO STEP INTO THEIR PURPOSE AND THEIR CALLING IN LIFE.

This particular moment in history is one of the most trying, challenging, heart-wrenching divided times that we’ve ever had to walk through.As an entrepreneurial parent, someone who is carving their way as they’re raising a family, it seems even more heart-wrenching. 

So, today’s episode is a perspective shift for anyone who is feeling the burden and the heaviness of this particular moment in time and needs a reminder to why this is not a coincidence, why are we are not here by chance and why we have to shift our focus from the fear of raising our kids at this moment in time to seeing that there’s a plan at play.

I have heard across the board from clients, listeners, people who reach out on social media, my peers, that this moment in time has been incredibly difficult. It’s difficult from an empath perspective of feeling the pain of what so many people are walking through, and it’s also so challenging as a parent. There’s this heaviness around raising kids right now in a culture and in a world that’s so broken and so divided. 

[03:45] I am pissed off 

I was driving in my car the other day and I was so pissed. I was pissed off that this is happening in our moment here on Earth (what a selfish way of thinking, but I am being honest!). I was pissed off because I was mad that our kids are going to have to make decisions that no child should ever have to make and that we as parents are going to have to make choices that we never thought we would face. 

[4:48]  Shifting Your Perspective

Today I want to share with you an excerpt that I read that has shifted my perspective and slapped my selfish face out of its way of thinking. I think it will shine a light for you and I hope you share it with any and every parent you know, because we need this grounding and this truth that none of this is by coincidence, it’s all by design. 

Here is a quote from someone named Alex Cravens that really helped shift my perspective: 

Don’t feel sorry for or fear for your kids because the world they are going to grow up in is not what it used to be. God created them and called them for the exact moment in time that they’re in. Their life wasn’t a coincidence or an accident. Raise them up to know the power they walk in as children of God, train them up in the authority of His word, teach them to walk in faith knowing that God is in control, empower them to know they can change the world. 

Don’t teach them to be fearful and disheartened by the state of the world, but hopeful that they can do something about it. Every person, in all of history, has been placed in the time that they were in because of God’s sovereign plan. He knew Daniel could handle the Lion’s den, He knew David could handle Goliath, He knew Esther could handle Haman, He knew Peter could handle persecution. He knows that your child can handle whatever challenge they face in their life, He created them specifically for it. 

Don’t be scared for your children, but be honored that God chose you to parent the generation that is facing the biggest challenges of our lifetime. Rise up to the challenge- raise Daniels, Davids, Esthers and Peters. God isn’t scratching his head wondering what He’s going to do with this mess of a world. He has an army He’s raising up to drive back the darkness and make Him known all over the Earth. 

Don’t let the fear steal the greatness God placed in them. I know it’s hard to imagine them as anything besides our sweet little babies and we just want to protect them from anything that could ever be hard on them, but they were born for such a time as this.
