If you’ve been wondering how to get unstuck in business – like you’re doing all the right things but still not moving forward – you’re not alone.. So many high-capacity entrepreneurs find themselves overwhelmed, burned out, or just numb to the work they once loved. That’s why in this week’s podcast episode, I’m unpacking exactly how to get unstuck in business by stepping into alignment with your purpose and calling – and I’m sharing the story that changed everything for me. Tune into the full episode below.
We hear it all the time: “Find your passion and follow it.” It’s advice that’s well-meaning, but ultimately misleading. Because the truth is, searching for your passion might be the very thing holding you back.
We’ve been taught to treat passion like a destination. As if there’s this one magical answer out there and if we hustle hard enough, journal deep enough, or check enough boxes, we’ll finally stumble upon it and everything will click.
But that’s not how it works – not in life, and definitely not in business.
Passion isn’t static. It evolves as you evolve. It grows in new seasons. And when we cling to the idea that there’s just one right version of it, we end up stuck – paralyzed by pressure to figure it all out.
That’s why so many high-capacity founders feel frustrated right now. They’re doing everything “right,” but it still doesn’t feel aligned. Because they’re chasing a fixed idea, instead of creating space for what’s next to emerge.
So let’s flip the script.
Introducing the Big Next Framework
Instead of chasing a passion, ask a better question: What is your Big Next? Your Big Next is a framework we’ve developed at Luminary Leadership based on our 15 years of experience supporting founders. We use it to help entrepreneurs find purpose in their business by identifying the aligned, next-level step God is calling them into.
Your Big Next isn’t some vision board fantasy or overly complicated 10-year business plan. It’s the next clear step toward the life and work you actually feel called to – not what the world says you should want, but what God’s been nudging you toward all along.
It’s where clarity meets capacity. Where conviction replaces confusion.
And it’s the path forward when you’re stuck, overwhelmed, or just going through the motions in your business. This is how to find purpose in your business again – by aligning it with your calling and your season
This isn’t about discovering something brand new. It’s about recognizing what God has already placed on your heart. And stepping into it, even if it scares you.
What Kept Me Stuck
For years, I was “doing the thing.” Scaling programs, supporting clients, growing revenue. And on paper? It was all working. But in my heart, something was off. I was losing the very joy that had led me to build this business in the first place.
Then, our family experienced a life-altering loss. We lost our sweet baby boy at 17 weeks pregnant. That trauma, followed by my own near-death experience, stripped away everything I thought mattered. In the quiet aftermath, I made a promise: I would never again spend another moment working on something God hadn’t called me to.
That clarity didn’t come from grinding harder. It came from being still.
And that’s when everything changed.
I began reimagining the business from the ground up. Not just asking, “What will grow revenue?” but instead, “How can I align my business with my calling, my purpose, and the life I want to live with my family?”
Your Business Should Serve Your Life – Not Consume It
Here’s what I’ve learned working with hundreds of entrepreneurs: Most of us are working harder than ever, but feeling less fulfilled. We’re pushing for growth while starving for meaning.
The answer isn’t another strategy. It’s leadership.
It’s your ability to zoom out, get radically honest, and ask:
- What’s lighting me up right now?
- What’s draining me?
- Where am I gripping too tightly?
- What shift is God asking me to make?
And this is where the magic happens.
Three Steps to Get Unstuck in Business
- Audit Your Energy
This is one of the simplest ways to identify misalignment and start figuring out how to get unstuck in business – fast. Fold a piece of paper in half. On one side, write your “Fire Starters” (things that energize you). On the other, your “Fire Snuffers” (things that drain you). This simple exercise can bring massive clarity to how to get unstuck in business. - Ask Better Questions
These are the questions that help you stop spinning your wheels and finally figure out how to find purpose in your business again. Instead of: “What am I passionate about?” ask: “What am I called to step into next?” I use my Clarity Prompts for this – daily reflection questions that re-center me in vision and alignment. - Audit Your Schedule to Align Your Business With Your Calling
Look at your calendar. Is there time carved out for the work only you can do? Or are you reacting to everything around you? Your schedule should reflect your values, your sweet spot, and your leadership priorities. This is how to align your business with your calling in a real, practical way.
You Don’t Need to Add More
You need to align deeper.
That’s what I dive deep into in my upcoming book, Your Big Next. It’s a call to rise into your next level of leadership, alignment, and impact and finally step into the work only you can do.
